Portfolio - United Rock Radio
In 2005, Jason Ross worked as a volunteer D.J. with an online radio station called United Rock Radio. Dave Tedder, who also runs Head First Entertainment, was the station manager and asked Jason to redesign the station's website.
After consulting with Mr Tedder and other volunteer DJs, Jason worked out a plan for the website. He developed a "Members Only" section called the URR Club where members could easily access a variety of exclusive items and contests. He decided to integrate different RSS feeds into the website to populate the "news" section automatically. Jason also developed a daily schedule that updated itself daily to inform users what shows were playing that day and created customized music players that could tell the listeners what songs were playing. This was combined with updating the look and feel of the current popular sections of the website such as chat, unsigned bands, etc.
Using PHP and mySQL, Jason developed two separate password protected sections on the website. One for the URR Club and the other for the station's DJs to access station information, programs, etc. These included registration systems and the ability for to recover forgotten passwords. This process was completely automated with the information stored in databases.
During the development and design of the site, Jason also created a series of content for the station including avatars, desktop backgrounds, and audio clips.
